Walking through a beautiful pine forest, the trail takes you along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. Along the way, you will catch a stunning view of the glistening Mt. Thamserku (6,618m). Passing through the settlements of Benkar, Chumoa, and Monjo, you will arrive at the check post and entrance to Sagarmatha National Park.
Continuing past the last village of Jorsale, the trail climbs through forests and across bridges until you reach the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. After a steep two-hour ascent, you will catch your first glimpse of Mt. Everest peeking over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. Here, you will pause at Chautara to admire the breathtaking view before continuing for another 1.5 hours to reach Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Mt. Everest and the main trading hub of the region.

This is the first of the two days set aside for acclimatization. Health experts recommend staying active and moving during rest days instead of being idle. You can either spend the day taking a hike to Thame, visiting Khunde, or relaxing and exploring Namche Bazaar itself.
Namche Bazaar is the main center of the Everest (Khumbu) region and offers government offices, ATMs, internet cafes, shops, restaurants, a bakery, and a colorful market every Friday evening and Saturday. Trekking a few hundred vertical feet during the day will help with proper acclimatization. Your guides will take you to the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarters of Sagarmatha National Park, where you can learn about the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture, and the unique flora and fauna of the Everest region.
Today’s journey starts with a climb up to the famous airstrip at Syangboche. Just above the airstrip is the Everest View Hotel, a Japanese project to build a deluxe hotel with stunning views of the highest mountains on Earth. After trekking for about two hours, the trail levels off as you reach Khumjung village.
The Khumjung valley, surrounded by the snowy peaks of Kondge, Thamserku, and the sacred peak Khumbila, is home to a well-known monastery that houses a yeti scalp. You will also visit the Hillary School, located in the same area. High above this traditional village, you’ll find colorful monasteries, prayer flags, and prayer wheels lining the slopes, offering a vibrant cultural experience.

You will begin the day with a descent down to the Dudh Koshi River, passing through small villages along the way. The trail continues through forests and along the riverside until lunchtime. Afterward, you will take a final ascent for about two hours through pine and fir forests to reach the small hilltop of Tyangboche.
Here, you will explore the famous Tengboche Gumba (monastery) and enjoy what are considered some of the most photogenic views in the world. From this vantage point, you can see inspiring views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse (8,501m), Kwangde (6,187m), Tawachee (6,542m), Ama Dablam, Kantega, and Thamserku. The area also boasts the renowned Tengboche Monastery.

At dawn, you will spend a brief time at Tengboche, observing its many prayer wheels. Although you cannot explore the prayer altars inside the monastery, as it opens only at 3 pm, the early morning visit still offers a peaceful atmosphere.
From Tengboche, a steep descent of about 1,500ft (500m) takes you through rhododendron bushes and fir trees to the Dudh Koshi River. You will cross the first bridge over the Dudh Koshi on the return trip at Phunki Tenga. Continuing on, you will pass through the villages of Tashinga and Sansa before reaching the beautiful village of Kyangjuma. Here, you can appreciate stunning views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Everest.

The trail to Namche Bazaar clings to the steep, wooded slope beyond Kyangjuma, winding through several bends. Keep an eye out for wildlife such as mountain goats, snow leopards, and colorful pheasants as you pass through the forested trail.
Once in Namche, you will have time to shop and relax at a bakery that serves coffee, cakes, and provides internet access. Afterward, a steep descent from Namche Hill leads you to a suspension bridge crossing the Dudh Koshi River near the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi Rivers. You will cross the river twice at separate locations before reaching Monjo.
At this point, you will exit the Sagarmatha National Park through its official entrance near Monjo, and finally reach Monjo Village. Monjo is a quieter place to stay than Namche, providing a more peaceful environment, and it also ensures a less strenuous walk back to Lukla the next day for the porters.

Today, you will start to warm up with the light breeze as you begin your descent. Although you are traveling the same route back, you will experience the landscape from a completely different perspective. The journey offers a mix of open plains, rhododendron and pine forests, and, in the distance, snow-covered peaks.
You will take your time and walk leisurely today, as it is the last day of the trek. As you pass through Sherpa villages, you will once again witness the impressive faith in Buddhism and the culture of prayer stones and prayer flags.
Upon arrival in Lukla, you will have plenty of time to relax, stretch those sore legs, and recall the experiences of the past days. This marks the culmination of a fantastic trek, with everyone safe and sound and smiles on their faces. After arrival in Lukla, you will have time to stroll around while your leader reconfirms your flight tickets. In the evening, you will enjoy a final dinner with your crew.
