This trek takes place in the north-west region of Nepal, one of the most remote and least explored areas of the country. Isolated by the difficult topography, it offers a rare opportunity to experience an authentic lifestyle in a region almost untouched by modern influence. Dolpo is closely linked with the frontier of Tibet, inhabited by people of Tibetan origin who follow the Tibetan culture. Here, you will encounter monasteries practicing the Bon religion, older than Buddhism itself.
The trek also offers visits to unique monasteries like Shey Gompa, the Crystal Monastery, a key pilgrimage site for many Tibetans. This strenuous trek requires physical fitness and previous trekking experience. As Dolpo is a restricted area, a special permit is required for foreign tourists.
