This tour takes you through Bhutan’s historical and cultural landmarks. Stay in Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha as you explore famous sites such as the Tiger’s Nest, the National Museum of Bhutan, and Tashichho Dzong. You’ll also visit the Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lhakhang, known for its fertility blessings.

The itinerary is designed for those who want to experience Bhutan’s cultural heritage while staying in comfortable hotels and enjoying leisurely day tours.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Paro, visit Rinpung Dzong and National Museum

Upon arrival in Paro, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit Rinpung Dzong, an ancient fortress that now serves as a monastery and administrative center. Afterward, explore the National Museum, housed in Ta Dzong, a former watchtower that offers fascinating exhibits on Bhutanese culture and history. Spend the evening strolling through Paro town, getting a feel for the local lifestyle.

Day 2Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Today, embark on the iconic hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), one of Bhutan’s most revered sites. The hike will take you up through forests of blue pine and rhododendrons, offering spectacular views of the valley below. After exploring the monastery, which clings to the cliffside, descend back to Paro for a relaxing afternoon and dinner at your hotel.

Day 3Drive to Thimphu, visit Memorial Chorten and Tashichho Dzong

After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive to Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu. Upon arrival, visit the National Memorial Chorten, where locals gather to pray. Next, explore Tashichho Dzong, a stunning fortress that serves as the seat of the Bhutanese government and the summer residence of the monastic body. Spend the evening exploring the quiet streets and markets of Thimphu.

Day 4Drive to Punakha, visit Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lhakhang

After an early breakfast, drive to Punakha via the picturesque Dochula Pass, where you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the Himalayas. Visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of the Mo and Pho Rivers. In the afternoon, hike through rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, a temple known for its fertility blessings. Overnight in Punakha.

Day 5Scenic stops at Dochula Pass, return to Paro

Begin your day with another visit to Dochula Pass, where you can take in the serene beauty of the 108 chortens. Continue your scenic drive back to Paro, stopping at various viewpoints along the way. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely dinner and reflect on your cultural immersion before your departure the next day.

Day 6Departure from Paro

On your final day in Bhutan, take some time for last-minute sightseeing or shopping in Paro. Depending on your flight schedule, you may wish to visit some local landmarks or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings before heading to the airport for your departure. Leave Bhutan with lasting memories of its rich heritage and breathtaking landscapes.
