The journey includes a gradual ascent, allowing trekkers to acclimatize while soaking in stunning views of snow-capped mountains and deep valleys. With a maximum altitude of 15,100 feet, this trek is designed for seasoned adventurers seeking both challenge and beauty.As you make your way towards Goechala Pass, expect to encounter diverse landscapes and rich wildlife. The trek also includes stops at picturesque campsites where you can relax under starlit skies. Each day brings new vistas, culminating in the breathtaking view from Goechala, where you’ll witness the majestic Kanchenjunga range in all its glory. Itinerary

Day 1Yuksom to Sachen

Begin your trek from Yuksom, the historic town of Sikkim. The trail takes you through dense forests of oak and pine, gradually ascending to Sachen at 7,200 feet. Along the way, enjoy the sound of the Prek Chu River and occasional sightings of exotic birds. After a 5-hour trek, you’ll arrive at Sachen for your first night of camping under the stars, surrounded by nature.

Day 2Sachen to Tshoka

The trek continues through lush greenery, crossing several wooden bridges over bubbling streams. As you ascend, you’ll pass through Bakhim before reaching the charming village of Tshoka at 9,700 feet. The views of Mount Pandim and nearby peaks from Tshoka are mesmerizing. Spend the night at this quaint settlement, a perfect spot to acclimatize for the journey ahead.

Day 3Tshoka to Dzongri

The trail steepens as you trek through rhododendron forests, which are especially vibrant during spring. Ascend to Phedang for a rest and take in the beautiful surroundings. Continue onward to Dzongri at 13,200 feet, where you’ll set up camp for the night. Dzongri offers spectacular views of the Kanchenjunga range, providing a rewarding end to a challenging day.

Day 4Dzongri to Thansing

Start early to witness the sunrise at Dzongri Top. Watch as the sun illuminates the peaks of Kanchenjunga and Pandim in a golden glow. Afterward, descend through open meadows and forested sections towards Thansing at 12,900 feet. The day’s trek is moderately easier, allowing you to enjoy the scenery as you approach the campsite surrounded by majestic mountains.

Day 5Thansing to Lamuney

A short and relatively easy trek to Lamuney at 13,700 feet allows you to conserve energy for the challenging day ahead. The trail meanders through meadows and offers closer views of the mountains. Set up camp at Lamuney and relax, as tomorrow you’ll reach the highest point of your trek, Goechala.

Day 6Lamuney to Goechala and back to Thansing

The highlight of the trek, Goechala Pass, awaits today. Start the trek early, navigating through rugged terrain and glacial moraine to reach Goechala Pass at 15,100 feet. Be prepared to witness breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga massif. After taking in the beauty, retrace your steps back to Thansing for an overnight stay.

Day 7Thansing to Tshoka

Begin your descent back towards Tshoka, following the same trail through Dzongri. The long descent can be physically demanding, but the stunning mountain views and lush greenery will make it worthwhile. Arrive at Tshoka and camp for the night, reflecting on the incredible journey thus far.

Day 8Tshoka to Yuksom

Descend further through familiar trails as you make your way back to Yuksom. The trek takes around 6 to 7 hours, gradually bringing you back to civilization. Reach Yuksom by afternoon and relax in the comfort of your guesthouse, celebrating the completion of an unforgettable trek.

Day 9Reserve day in Yuksom

Spend this day at leisure in Yuksom, either exploring the town or simply resting. Visit the Dubdi Monastery or the Norbugang Coronation Throne, both of which are steeped in Sikkimese history. This day serves as a buffer in case of weather delays during the trek.

Day 10Departure from Yuksom

After breakfast, begin your journey back to your next destination. You can arrange a taxi to Siliguri or Bagdogra for onward travel. With a sense of achievement and memories of the stunning Kanchenjunga range, bid farewell to Yuksom.
