The varied landscapes provide ample opportunities for photography enthusiasts to capture stunning vistas at every turn.As you traverse this expansive route, you’ll also have chances to interact with local communities and learn about their customs and traditions. Reaching Goechala Pass rewards you with one of the most magnificent views in the Himalayas—a sight that will remain etched in your memory long after your journey ends. This trek is perfect for those looking for both adventure and cultural immersion in Sikkim’s pristine wilderness.
Begin your trek from Manebhanjan at 7,054 feet, making your way through a gradual ascent towards Tumling at 9,600 feet. The trail takes you through dense forests and offers spectacular views of the Singalila range. Tumling is a small village that provides your first panoramic views of Mount Kanchenjunga. Camp overnight or stay in a local lodge.
Continue through the Singalila National Park, crossing scenic ridges and forests of bamboo and rhododendron. After about 6 hours of trekking, reach Kalapokhri at 10,400 feet. The small black lake here is considered sacred by locals. Settle in at a lodge or campsite for the night, enjoying the serene surroundings.
Today’s trek brings you to Sandakphu, the highest point of the trek at 11,930 feet. The 6-hour trek involves steep climbs but rewards you with 360-degree views of the Himalayas, including Everest, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga. The summit of Sandakphu is a photographer’s paradise, especially during sunrise and sunset. Spend the night at a guesthouse or campsite.
Trek from Sandakphu to Phalut, another high point at 11,811 feet. The 7-hour journey takes you through open meadows and high-altitude terrain with continuous views of the Himalayan peaks. Upon reaching Phalut, set up camp or stay in a basic hut, preparing for the descent the next day. The views of the mountains from here are unrivaled.

Reaching Goechala rewards you with awe-inspiring views of Mount Kanchenjunga up close. After spending some time at the pass, retrace your steps back to Thansing for a well-earned rest.
