This fortress-monastery, perched on a hill overlooking the Paro Valley, has a rich history and serves as both a religious and administrative center. After enjoying the stunning scenery at the pass, you’ll begin your descent towards the subtropical valley of Punakha, passing through alpine meadows, forests, and small settlements. As you descend into lower altitudes, the climate becomes warmer and the landscape transitions to fertile farmlands and terraced rice paddies.
