Tour Details

Dudhkunda Trek (4,560m): Nestled in the lap of Mt. Numbur, Dudhkunda or the “Lake of Milk” is a sacred destination revered by locals. Taking a dip in its holy waters is believed to fulfill wishes, and during full-moon nights in August, a weeklong celebration draws pilgrims and shamans. The trek showcases lush rhododendron forests, diverse wildlife, and a unique cultural experience in Khaling Rai settlements.

Khaling Rai Culture: The dominant ethnic group here, Khaling Rais, maintain rich traditions. They speak their own language and celebrate both Hindu and Buddhist festivals. Rituals like the Bhume Dance, Chandi Dance, and Naghi Pooja highlight their spiritual connection to ancestors and the earth. Chhang (fermented millet/rice wine) is a vital part of their culture.

This trek can be tailored for cultural exploration, starting at Phaplu and passing through vibrant local communities, or as an adventure to the pristine Dudhkunda Lake. A perfect blend of nature, culture, and spirituality awaits!
