Tour Details

Embark on the Gokyo to Kalapatthar EBC Trek, starting with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. We’ll trek to the Sherpa capital, Namche Bazaar, and then to the stunning Gokyo Lakes, sacred to the Tibetan Buddhists of the region. After an early start, we’ll hike up to Gokyo Ri for some of the best mountain views in Nepal. Continuing across the Ngozumpa Glacier, we’ll cross Cho La Pass and reach Dzongla.

From there, we’ll head towards Lobuche along the Khumbu Glacier’s moraine, eventually reaching Gorak Shep at the base of Kala Pattar. You can choose to hike to the summit for sunset or early morning views of Everest. The trek to Everest Base Camp, located at the foot of the Khumbu Icefall, is just 3 hours from Gorak Shep.

I: Your safety is of paramount concern whilst traveling with Journey Junction. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary; however, as this is adventure travel in remote mountain region, we cannot guarantee it! Weather conditions, health condition of a member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The leader will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.

 

II:  In some circumstances we could face problem of internal flights to/from Lukla delayed by few hours or canceled for a day or more because of bad weather. Very rarely, but it could happen even in best trekking season also as you know how climate change is effecting our globe.

Thus, we always recommend you to add supplement night/s in Kathmandu after your trek if possible (just for incase). If everything runs smoothly, you can enjoy other activities like sightseeing, rafting , wildlife activities, shopping, as you wish in those additional day. However, if you want heli rescue in the state of flight cancellation to/from Lukla – we can organize it.

Gokyo to Kalapatthar EBC Trek Itinerary

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu (1345m)

Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, meet our representative who will transfer you to your hotel by private vehicle. After check-in, if time permits, we will take you for a short briefing about the trip at our office. Otherwise, the briefing will be provided at the hotel. You’ll also be requested to pay the remaining balance for the trip. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02Half-day Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation for the Trek

After breakfast, embark on a guided tour to several historical and spiritual landmarks, including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and Boudhanath. In the afternoon, meet with your trek leader and team members, finalize any last-minute trek preparations, and purchase personal items for the trek. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03Flight to Lukla & Trek to Phakding (2800m/8,700ft), 3-4hrs

Catch an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2800m). After final preparations, the trek begins with a descent towards Dudhkosi Ghat (2530m), following the river to Phakding. Explore the Sherpa village. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 04Trek to Namche (3440m/11,284ft), 5-6hrs

Cross the Dudhkoshi River on a long suspension bridge, then head towards Hillary’s Suspension Bridge. The trail leads you to Namche Bazaar, the main hub of the Everest region. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 05Acclimatization in Namche (3440m/11,284ft)

Take a rest day to acclimatize in Namche Bazaar. Options include hiking to Thame, Khunde, or exploring Namche itself, including the Tourist Visitor Center and Sherpa Culture exhibits. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 06Trek to Thame (3736m), 5/6 hrs

Trek to Thame via Phorte, crossing the Bhotekoshi River. Explore the village and enjoy the views of surrounding peaks such as Kondge Ri and Khumbi-La. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 07Trek to Khumjung (3786m/12,419ft), 5-6hrs

Climb to Syngboche and visit the Everest View Hotel. Trek to Khumjung valley, home to a well-known Yeti scalp and Hillary School. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 08Trek to Dole (4110m/13,152ft), 6-7hrs

Descend to Saga and climb to Mong La. Enjoy views of Thamserku, Ama Dablam, and other peaks. Pass through forests and arrive in Dole, a small settlement. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 09Trek to Machhermu (4470m/14,466ft), 5-6hrs

Climb from Dole to Lhabarma and Luza, enjoying views of Cho Oyu, Kantega, and Thamserku. Arrive in Machherma, the last major settlement before Gokyo. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 10Trek to Gokyo (4750m/15,585ft), 3-4hrs

Trek through the Ngozumpa glacier to Gokyo, passing Dudh Pokhari and reaching the village by the third lake. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 11Trek to Gokyo-Ri (5360m), 2-3hrs

Climb to Gokyo Ri for panoramic views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, and other peaks. Return to Gokyo. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 12Trek to Thangnak (4700m/15,421ft), 5-6hrs

Descend past the lakes of Dudh Pokhari and the Ngozumpa Glacier, then reach Thangnak. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 13Trek to Chola-Pass and Lobuche (4930m/16,175ft), 9-10hrs

Cross Chola Pass and descend to Lobuche, rejoining the main trail to Everest Base Camp. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 14Trek to Gorekshep (5160m/16,929ft), 3hrs

Trek to Gorekshep and continue to Everest Base Camp for stunning views. Return to Gorekshep for the night. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 15Early Hike to Kala Patthar (5545m/18,192ft), 2-3hrs

Hike early to Kala Patthar for breathtaking views of Mount Everest. Descend to Gorekshep for breakfast and then trek down to Pangboche. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 16Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m/11,284ft), 6-7hrs

Descend to Namche Bazaar, passing through Tyangboche and Khumbu villages. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 17Trek back to Lukla (2800m/9,184ft), 7-8hrs

Descend back to Lukla, where you can relax and celebrate completing the trek. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 18Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu (1350m/4,428ft)

Fly back to Kathmandu and enjoy a restful day. Optional shopping or sightseeing in the city. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 19Leisure Day in Kathmandu

Relax or explore more of Kathmandu. The day is free for personal activities or extra arrangements. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 20Departure from Kathmandu

After breakfast, transfer to Kathmandu airport for your flight home.
