Tour Details

After flying from Kathmandu into Lukla, we’ll begin trekking to the Sherpa capital Namche Bazaar and on to the turquoise glacial waters of Gokyo Lakes, sacred to Tibetan Buddhist living in this area. Rising for an early start, we’ll trek to the summit of Gokyo Ri for some of the best mountain views in all of Nepal. We’ll travel across the Ngozumpa Glacier before crossing Cho La Pass to Dzongla.

 

From here, we’ll make our way to Lobuche along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and on to Gorak Shep at the base of the Kala Pattar. You can hike to the top for sunset views or make an early morning trek to its summit for a panoramic view of the high Himalaya, including Everest at 29,035′. The trek to Everest Base Camp at the foot of the imposing Khumbu Icefall is 3-hours from Gorak shep.

Note-I: Your safety is of paramount concern whilst traveling with Yala Adventure. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary; however, as this is adventure travel in remote mountain region, we cannot guarantee it! Weather conditions, health condition of a member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The leader will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.

 

Note-II:  In some circumstances we could face problem of internal flights to/from Lukla delayed by few hours or canceled for a day or more because of bad weather. Very rarely, but it could happen even in best trekking season also as you know how climate change is effecting our globe. Thus, we always recommend you to add supplement night/s in Kathmandu after your trek if possible (just for incase). If everything runs smoothly, you can enjoy other activities like sightseeing, rafting , wildlife activities, shopping, as you wish in those additional day. However, if you want heli rescue in the state of flight cancellation to/from Lukla – we can organize it.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1345m) airport and Transfer to hotel.

After you arrive in Kathmandu airport please check our company board outside the main gate there will be our airport representative you will meet with him and he will transferred to hotel by private vehicle and our representative will help you to check-in your hotel after that if time enough, representative will take you to our office for short briefing about the trip but if not enough time then give a short trip brief in hotel and request to pay the due balance for the trip. Day 02: Half-day Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation for the Trek

Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. The day will also be for finalizing official procedure and other necessary arrangements. You will be also briefed on the nature of the trek, equipments and team composition. Some of landmarks we visit include the World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) and Buddhists shrine (Bouddhanath).  In the afternoon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader and other team members. You can also make your last minute buying of personal items as you will be trek to the Himalayas tomorrow.

Day 03: Flight to Lukla & trek to Phakding ( 2800m/8,700ft ),3/4hrs

After an early morning flight Kathmandu to Lukla (2800m/9.186ft) and the final preparations, the trekking starts. From Lukla you will pass Chaurikharka village and make a descent towards the Dudhkosi Ghat (2530m/8.300ft). The trail follows the bank of the Dudhkosi River until camp at Phakding is reached. Explore Sherpa village and over night at lodge.

Day 04: Trek to Namche (3440m/11,284ft),5/6hrs

The trail crosses the Dudhkoshi River over a long suspension bridge and then leads you along the river to Hillary’s Suspension Bridge (named after Edmund Hillary Sir). The trail takes you further from here all the way to Nance Bazaar. Edmund Hillary Sir and Tenzing Norgay are recognized as the first two men to reach the summit of Mount Everest. This happened on the 29th of May. 1953.

Day 05: Acclimization for a Namche (440m/11,284ft)

Our Itinerary acclimatization day for this trek. Health experts recommend us to stay active and moving during the rest day to instead of being idle. We either spend the day taking a day’s hike to Thame or visiting Khunde or relaxing and exploring Namche Bazaar itself. Namche Bazzar is the main centre of the Everest (Khumbu) region and has government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, a bakery and a colorful market each Friday evening and Saturday. If we trek a few hundred vertical feet during the day, it will help us to properly acclimatize. Our guides take us to the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarter of the Sagarmatha National Park where we can observe an assortment of things related to the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture and learn about the various plant and animal life of the Everest region.

Day 06: Trek to Thame (3736m),5/6 hrs

We came out Namche Bazar east past themonastry and begin with a short uphill trek. On the left we have the Kondge Ri (6187m) and the river that follow down into a ravine. On the right is the rocky Khumbi-La (5765m).Its behinds s is clearly visible on Kusum Kanguru (6373m). After an hourly mostly down into the forest,with countinues steep rise about 50m in altitude to reach a ridge around it. The river bid becomes closer and wider. We reach the village in Phorte small town of samde.Along stretch halfway of a slight slope leading to the bridge over the Bhotekoshi (3650m). Again crossing the Bhotekoshi River half an hour walk up there Thame.  Overnight in Lodge

 

 

Day 07: Trek to Khumjung (3786m/12419ft),5/6 hrs

Today our itinerary comes to khumjung from Thame.we climb up to the famous airstrip at Syngboche.Just above the airstrip is the Everest View hotel,a japanese schme to build a delux hotel with great views of the highest mountain on the earth. Our khumjung valley is surrounded by the snowy peaks of khondge and Thamsherku. The scared peak Khumbila hosts a well known monastry that houses a yeti sclap. We also visit Hillary school which is at the same site. After having lunch and spending some time in khumjung. Overnight at lodge

Day 08: Trek Dole (4110m/13152ft),6/7hrs

We walk steeply down saga & climb in Mong.This is the lama sange dorge birth place. We can enjoy outstanding views of Thamserku, Katenga, and Ama Dablam. Most strenuous ascent of the day is obviously to pass the Mong La, a very charming place perched of Mt. Khumbila. An ancient historical shorten stands at the centre of the settlement of Mong La. We stop at the top of Mong La to admire the grandest views of surrounding snow-capped mountains and valleys while having lunch. The most outstanding feature of the trail today is the abundance of plant and animal vegetation including wildflowers and Rhododendrons. While on the way it will not be unusual to spot wild lives like pheasants, mountain goats, and the elusive musk deer. Traversing through forests, some waterfalls and bridges, we reach at Dole, a small place with few teahouses. Overnight at lodge

Day 09: Trek to Machhermu (4470m/1466ft),5,6hrs

we go climb steadily up through a scenic ridge above Dole and the trail climbs via Lhabarma at 4220m to Luza at 4360m. The path is steep most places as well pass through thorny bushes up to Lhabarma. Offering us good views of Cho Oyu, Kantega, and Thamserku the trail take us through many summer settlements and a charming hamlet of Luza (4360 m). While ascending from Luza, the Dudh Koshi valley is deep like a canyon with its sides. Walking along the hill side above thundering Dudkoshi passing through some small hamlets and through sandy spours, we reach Machherma. Machherma is the last major settlement way to Gokyo.The beautiful stream flowing down from the Kyajo Ri and Phari Lapche mountains runs through the middle of village before draining into the Dudh Koshi. It’s a place where Khumbu people got first sighting of Yeti in 1974. At this juncture, we pay our visit to the Himalayan Rescue Hospital for a lecture regarding the altitude sickness, its precaution and primary treatment.Overnight at lodge.

Day 10: Trek to Gokyo,(4750m/15585ft),3/4 hrs

Climbing steeply up a scrubby slope to a collection of shorten on the hilltop and passing through the good views of Kantega. Cho-oyu we soon reach a tiny settlement of Pangka village at the end of the Ngozumpa glacier. Wedged between the mountain wall and the crumbling mound of sand and gravel are the six sacred lakes which reflect the peaks in their calm mirrored surfaces. Immediately after crossing the bridge we reach the first lake and crossing through the barren landscapes pass through the second lake and finally we reach the village of Gokyo on shores of the third lake known as dudh pokhari. Day 11: Trek to Gokyo-Ri (5360m)

Gokyo Ri, the 5357m high hill on the north side of Dudh Pokhari. Starting up the mountain early in the morning, the path to the peak crosses the stream at the north end of the village and climbs for two hours to the top of the hill for the panoramic views of Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse and Taboche, with the Ngozumpa glacier cutting across in front like a massive tear in the landscape. We notice that Everest truly towers over all the surrounding peaks. From Gokyo Ri we descend back to Gokyo.Overnight at lodge

Day 12:Trek to Thangnak,(4700m/15421ft),5/6hrs

Descending down steeply crossing the third lake, Dudh Pokhari alongside of surging stream that links the two lakes, we reach the second lake, Tajung Tsho. Now the trail brings us to the edge of Ngozumpa glacier that is among the longest in Nepal and covered with debris. At places beneath is exposed and large melt water ponds are formed. We reach a settlement of Thangnak crossing through the fabulous mountain views of Phari Lapche (6017m/19740 ft), more distant and higher peak of Kyajo Ri (6186m/20295ft) and great icy wall of Cho Oyu. Overnight at lodge.

Day 13: Trek to Chola-Pass in Lobuche (4930m/16175ft),9/10hrs

After yesterday’s long demanding walk today looks like it will be a lot easier. Rounding the ridge when we move southward, that the vast Chola Lake sprawls below while Cholatse peak rises beyond it. The view is stunning; the lake stays with us over a long stretch we walk down over it. We walk towards Ama Dablam but then, following the contour of the hill, we veer off towards the North and eventually descend into the valley (it’s really the end of the Khumbu glacier) and reach the settlement of Lobuche a bit later. We have now rejoined the main trail to Everest Base Camp. Overnight at lodge

Day 14: Trek to Gorekshep (5160m/16,929ft),3 hrs

Today we hike slowly for 3 hours up a dry and stony hill to reach Gorekshep. After lunch, we continue our hike to the Everest Base Camp via a rocky and glacial trail. The EBC is the main camp where hikers from all over the world meet and make their final preparations before their attempt on summiting Everest. After celebrating and taking photos we hike back to Gorekshep for our overnight at a lodge.

Day 15: Early hike to Kalapatthar (5545m/18,192ft),2/3 hrs

We hike up to the Kala Patthar (Black Rock) early in the morning. It takes a couple of hours to walk up to the famous viewing point of Kala Pattar- at sunrise this small peak offers the best views of Mt. Everest, Pumori and Ama Dablam. Later, we hike down to Gorekshep, have breakfast and continue our descent back to Pangboche. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 16: Trek to Namche Bazzar, (3440m/11284 ft ),6/7 hrs

Today our trail comes all the way down. We cross a suspension bridge and hike up through the forest to reach Tyangboche. From Tyangboche the trail descends all the way to the riverside. We cross the river and take a walk up a big hill (2 hours) and from there it will be a pleasant walk to Namche.

Day 17: Trek back to Lukla ,(2800m/9,184ft ), 7/8 hrs

Today the trail steeply descends to the Hillary Suspension Bridge and then continues on an easy natural trail. On arrival in Lukla there will be time to relax, stretch those sore legs and celebrate the completion of your trek. Here your guide will also reconfirm your flight back to Kathmandu.

Day 18: Flight back from Lukla to Kathmandu

After an early morning flight back to Kathmandu (1350m/4.428ft), you will head back to your hotel. Today is a well earned rest and relaxing day and to put your feet up and gratefully rediscover all the perks of modern life again. You could also catch up on some last minute shopping or explore the sights you may have missed during your first day. We end our adventure of a lifetime and celebrate our achievements with a dinner at a restaurant in Kathmandu.

Day 19: Leisure day in Kathmandu

Today, you have leisure day for relax or shopping in Kathmandu so you can do your own activities by yourself or consult with company to arrange extra activities. Overnight at hotel

Day 20: Departure Kathmandu

After breakfast, End of our services with departure transfer to the Kathmandu airport to board flight for your onward destination.
