This tour focuses on the western region of Bhutan, starting in Paro and ending in Thimphu. You’ll stay in boutique hotels as you tour the must-see sites, such as the famous Tiger’s Nest, Paro Dzong, and Rinpung Dzong. In Thimphu, visit the Tashichho Dzong and explore the craft bazaar to experience Bhutan’s traditional arts.

Your journey includes a stop at the picturesque Dochula Pass with its 108 memorial chortens and a visit to the Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of two rivers. This tour is ideal for travelers wanting to experience the iconic sites of Bhutan in comfort.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Paro, visit Paro Dzong and National Museum

Arrive at Paro International Airport, where your guide will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After settling in, head out to visit Paro Dzong, an impressive fortress overlooking the Paro Valley, rich in Bhutanese architecture and history. Afterward, explore the National Museum of Bhutan, housed in the ancient Ta Dzong watchtower, which offers insight into Bhutan’s heritage and culture. End the day with a relaxing stroll through Paro town.

Day 2Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Begin the day with an exhilarating hike to the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), perched on a cliffside over 900 meters above the valley floor. The hike will take about 4 to 5 hours round trip, with opportunities to stop at a café for tea. Once at the monastery, take in the stunning views and spiritual significance of this sacred site. After descending, return to Paro for a restful evening.

Day 3Drive to Thimphu, visit Buddha Dordenma and Tashichho Dzong

After breakfast, drive to Bhutan’s capital city, Thimphu, passing through scenic mountain roads. Visit the massive Buddha Dordenma statue, which overlooks the valley and offers panoramic views. Next, explore the historic Tashichho Dzong, the seat of the Bhutanese government and the monastic body. In the evening, enjoy the atmosphere of Thimphu’s markets and local cafés.

Day 4Drive to Punakha, visit Punakha Dzong and rice fields

Start your day with a drive to Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan, passing through the stunning Dochula Pass, known for its 108 memorial chortens and views of the Himalayas. Upon arrival, visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, which sits at the confluence of two rivers. Later, take a scenic walk through nearby rice fields and visit Chimi Lhakhang, a temple renowned for its fertility blessings. Spend the night in Punakha.

Day 5Return to Paro for departure

After breakfast, embark on a return journey to Paro, enjoying the serene mountain views along the way. Upon arrival in Paro, you may have time for last-minute shopping or a leisurely lunch before your departure from Bhutan. Conclude your trip with memories of Bhutan’s beautiful landscapes and rich cultural experiences.
