Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Paro, visit Paro Dzong

Arrive in Paro and meet your guide, who will transfer you to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit Paro Dzong, a traditional fortress that offers stunning views of the surrounding valley. Walk across the wooden cantilever bridge nearby and explore the architecture and religious significance of this dzong. Take the rest of the day to explore Paro town at your leisure.

Day 2Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Today’s adventure is a hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery, perched on a cliffside above the Paro Valley. The trek provides spectacular views and insight into Bhutan’s rich spiritual traditions. Upon reaching the monastery, explore its inner sanctuaries before returning to Paro for an evening of relaxation.

Day 3Drive to Thimphu, visit Buddha Dordenma and local markets

After breakfast, drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s bustling capital. Start your sightseeing with a visit to the massive Buddha Dordenma statue, which offers panoramic views of the valley. Spend the afternoon exploring local markets and handicraft stalls, where you can find traditional Bhutanese textiles, pottery, and souvenirs. Enjoy the relaxed pace of Thimphu as you stroll around the city.

Day 4Drive to Punakha, visit Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lhakhang

After breakfast, drive to Punakha, stopping at Dochula Pass to take in breathtaking mountain views. In Punakha, visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful and historic fortresses. Afterward, take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to the “Divine Madman” known for its fertility blessings. Overnight in Punakha.

Day 5Explore Phobjikha Valley, visit Gangtey Monastery

Today, drive to the beautiful Phobjikha Valley, known for its stunning landscapes and as the winter home of the black-necked cranes. Visit Gangtey Monastery, which overlooks the valley and is one of the oldest monasteries in Bhutan. Spend the rest of the day exploring the valley’s natural beauty and enjoying the tranquility of this remote region.

Day 6Scenic walks through rice terraces and local villages

Start the day with a peaceful walk through the valley’s rice terraces and local villages, where you can observe traditional farming practices. Take in the stunning scenery and the simple way of life in rural Bhutan. Afterward, drive back to Punakha or Paro, where you’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 7Return to Paro for departure

On your final day, drive back to Paro in preparation for your departure. Depending on your flight time, you may have time for some last-minute shopping or a visit to one of Paro’s attractions. Depart from Paro International Airport, leaving Bhutan with cherished memories of its serene valleys and rich cultural heritage.
