Paro-Taktsang-Thimphu-Punakha-Dochula Pass
Tour Details

This easygoing tour covers the key sights of western Bhutan. Stay in comfortable hotels as you explore Paro’s Rinpung Dzong and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. In Thimphu, visit the Buddha Dordenma statue, the weekend market, and Tashichho Dzong. In Punakha, tour the picturesque Punakha Dzong and take a short walk through lush valleys to Chimi Lhakhang.

The tour provides a relaxed pace with plenty of time to enjoy Bhutanese cuisine, shop for local crafts, and explore famous landmarks in comfort.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Paro, visit Rinpung Dzong

Arrive in Paro and be transferred to your hotel by your guide. Spend the afternoon visiting Rinpung Dzong, a historic fortress that serves as a monastery and administrative center. Admire its traditional Bhutanese architecture and the panoramic views of the Paro Valley. Afterward, take a peaceful walk around Paro town before heading back to your hotel for the night.

Day 2Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Start your day with a hike to the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), perched dramatically on a cliffside. The trek offers stunning views and a glimpse into Bhutan’s deep spiritual heritage. After a rewarding climb and exploration of the monastery, return to Paro for a relaxed evening, where you can explore the town further or rest at your hotel.

Day 3Drive to Thimphu, visit Buddha Dordenma and Tashichho Dzong

Enjoy a scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city. Once there, visit the massive Buddha Dordenma statue, which overlooks the valley and offers sweeping views. Continue to the impressive Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government and religious authority. Take in the capital’s peaceful ambiance as you explore Thimphu’s quiet streets and local attractions.

Day 4Drive to Punakha, visit Punakha Dzong

After breakfast, drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan, passing through the spectacular Dochula Pass, known for its 108 chortens and panoramic views of the Himalayas. Upon arrival, visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan, located at the confluence of two rivers. Spend the evening soaking in Punakha’s tranquil atmosphere.

Day 5Visit Dochula Pass and Chimi Lhakhang

Start the day with a scenic stop at Dochula Pass, where you can enjoy clear views of the Himalayas and the rows of colorful prayer flags. Continue to Chimi Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to the “Divine Madman” and known for its fertility blessings. After exploring the lush surroundings, return to your hotel in Punakha for a restful night.

Day 6Return to Paro for departure

After breakfast, make your way back to Paro, retracing your scenic route through the mountains. Upon arrival, you may have time to explore Paro one last time or do some last-minute shopping before heading to the airport for your departure. End your journey with lasting memories of Bhutan’s stunning landscapes and serene spirituality.
